Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway Shine in Dark Knight Rises Trailer
It's no secret that director Christopher Nolan's take on the Batman film series is quite dark, but now there's a fresh trailer to prove it.
The newest look at The Dark Knight Rises hit the Web on Monday (December 19) and boasts all that one would expect from the Nolan-led project — darkness, darkness and a nod to the Occupy Wall Street movement?
In what seems to be shrewd foresight, The Dark Knight Rises peak acknowledges the economic and class disparities between the wealthy and not so well-to-do of fictional Gotham City. But the words written for Catwoman and spoken by the actress who'll follow in the footsteps of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry ring true for America's contemporary society.
"You think this can last," Hathaway as Catwoman purrs to Christian Bale, as Batman. "There's a storm coming Mr. Wayne, you and your friends better batten down the hatches. Because when it hits, you're all going to wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us."
Along with Hathaway and Bale, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine guest for the final hurrah of the Batman series.
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters in the summer of 2012.
