Donald Trump Says Hurricane Harvey Has "Been A Wonderful Thing" for Texas
Donald Trump can sometimes (or all the time) go off the cuff when trying to make comments about important things, which makes him the perfect person to be president.
Jk, but after his already shaking Harvey response, which included his first trip to Houston not even including meetings with victims of the horrific hurricane, the president did something else cringeworthy, this time with his “best words.”
Saturday’s (September 2) trip to Texas did actually have him meeting with Houston officials that have worked to improve conditions in America’s fourth largest city, but when he spoke directly to the media continued to relay his lack of empathy.
“They were just happy … a lot of happiness,” he said. “It’s been very nice. It’s been a wonderful thing. It’s – as tough as this was, it’s been a wonderful thing. I think even for the country to watch and for the world to watch. It’s been beautiful. Have a good time everybody, I’m going to be doing a little help over here.”
There are a lot of adjectives to describe Hurricane Harvey. “Nice” and “wonderful” aren’t nearly two of them. To be fair, he was probably referring to the local’s response to the storm, but after so many people were displaced from where they live as well as deaths and injuries, sensitivity is crucial.
Anyway, check out a segment of what Donald Trump had to say below.
