‘Love Is Blind’s' Clay and AD Open Up On Embarrassing Failed Wedding Attempt
Clay Gravesande and Amber Desiree “AD” Smith are peeling back the layers of how their love went awry.
Last night (March 13), "Love Is Blind: Reunion" aired on Netflix, and Clay and AD kept it raw and real on the demise of their relationship after he decided not to marry her during the season six finale, as reported by PEOPLE. During the reunion episode, Clay was an open book and took responsibility for their failed wedding.
"Throughout this whole process, one of the biggest things I struggled with was getting out of my own way," he said. "AD always ... made me feel like the best person but I couldn't get out of my own way. I kept looking at myself in the mirror and saying, 'I'm not the guy that deserves love and marriage.'"
"She’s honestly the love of my life, and I did make a mistake going to the altar and saying no," he elaborated.
Since then, Clay said he has been in therapy "to be a better person."
"It was a big let-down and I apologize. I love you. You are the love of my life and it was a mistake," he told AD.
While Clay admitted to his mistakes, AD stood on business in a confessional on where her feelings currently lie for him.
"I don't regret saying yes to him. My love is blind. There's nothing that he could've shown me, told me, that would've changed my answer," she said. "I don't see myself continuing to date him. You don't wanna pick me? Somebody else will. I'm done. My heart is broken."
AD also has no interest in spinning the block with her ex. When asked by co-host Vanessa Lachey if she'd give Clay another chance, she quipped, "Next question!"
"You had your chance, there's nothing that I wouldn't have given you, there's nothing I wouldn't have done for you, said AD. "And low key, respectfully, you played in my f---ing face... because you knew that you didn't want to get married."
AD also "didn’t want to, respectfully, be Clay's mom in long run," she said after watching the scene between Clay and his mom. "I didn’t want that to be my story."
While Clay wasn't ready for marriage then, he revealed that now he is.
"I wanna be a good guy, I wanna be the best version I can be and it sucks I wasn't like that for you," he uttered while crying. "It wasn't intentional... it broke my heart to break your heart."
