Kanye West to Release Solo Album After Cruel Summer
While his two most recent musical efforts (Watch the Throne, Cruel Summer) have been team-orientated, Kanye West is going solo on his next.
Def Jam VP and Grammy Award winning producer No I.D. confirmed to MTV News that Mr. West is planning to release his sixth solo album soon after the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music LP Cruel Summer hits stores in August.
“He’s coming right after that,” No I.D. told MTV of the project which will likely be a fourth quarter release.
Of course No I.D., who served as a mentor to ‘Ye when the producer-rapper first broke into the music business, has intimate knowledge of the album, because he has already been enlisted as a contributor.
"I'm not working on that [Cruel Summer] album, I'm working on his album," he said before selling the can’t-miss qualities of the G.O.O.D. compilation. "This is Kanye. You know what to expect from the family. He hasn't missed yet, so don't expect him to miss."
Asked what fans can expect on the forthcoming solo LP, Kanye’s first since 2010’s award-winning My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, No I.D. cryptically affirmed, "It's what you expect and everything you don't expect."
