Diddy Settles for Millions With Victims From Shoot-Out
On December 27, 1999 Diddy, Shyne, Jennifer Lopez and their entourage were at the now defunt Club New York when shots rang out. The shooting and resulting trial, which landed Shyne in prison with a 10 year sentence, were a buzz of media attention at the time. However, a quiet civil suit was playing out all these years and finally the ordeal has come to an end and the victims have received monetary compensation for their suffering.
The exact terms are unknown because of confidentiality agreements signed by all involved, however the former nightclub owner, Michael Bergos, did not sign an agreement and so was able to provide some information. The most seriously injured victim, Natania Reuben, who was shot in the nose, received $1.8 million dollars. She still has seven bullet fragments lodged in her face from the incident and suffers seizures. The other two victims received $500,000 and $50,000.
Shyne has since been released from prison and was deported back to his country of origin, Belize. He's converted to Judaism but is still rapping, having signed a deal with Def Jam. There's still no word on his newest album, which was scheduled for release on May 17, 2011. Diddy managed to distance himself from the violence of that night and continues developing into the mogul he is today.
