How Stephen Curry Is Making the Dunk Contest Obsolete

Reigning NBA MVP defending his Three-Point Contest crown during All-Star Saturday night is must-see TV.

The NBA should seriously consider making the Three-Point Contest the main event of All-Star Saturday Night, as part of this All-Star Weekend in Toronto.

Listen, we know it has been a time-honored tradition to have the Slam Dunk Contest as the final event on All-Star Saturday Night, but that needs to change this year.

Yes, it should be intriguing to see if Zach LaVine can glide his way to back-to-back Slam Dunk titles, but the NBA should go with its hottest hand, Stephen Curry.

The reigning NBA MVP and defending Three-Point Contest champion has been shooting fire flames from beyond the arc this season at a ridiculous 45.4 percent clip.

And get this...

That's a career-high 29.8 points per game, leading the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors to a 48-4 record at the All-Star break, threatening to snap the Chicago Bulls' all-time best mark of 72-10 set in 1996.

There should be little to no doubt that Stephen Curry is the best player in the league right now and the NBA should take advantage of it this weekend by showcasing him in the Three-Point Contest to end All-Star Saturday Night.

Bump young LaVine up a spot, so we could see if Curry can turn the Three-Point Contest into a lit-uation once again.

Last year at the event, Curry warded off Kyrie Irving and his Splash Brother teammate Klay Thompson in the championship round by scoring 27 to win the crown.

Up against Thompson again, in addition to Chris Bosh, James Harden, Kyle Lowry, Devin Booker, Khris Middleton and J.J. Redick this year, can Chef Curry go back to back?

The three-point king is going to try... and it will be pure entertainment to witness.

We just hope the NBA highlights its top fire-flame spitter in the main-event spot.

At this point, he shouldn't open up for anyone because what we're seeing from Curry this season is something special.

Now, imagine if he doesn't miss...
