She’s a Nickelodeon Alum
There’s not a Millennial who grew up with cable in their home, on the planet, who doesn’t remember My Brother and Me. The show premiered in 1994 and centered around two brothers and their lives growing up in North Carolina. Of course, their friends were involved in the life lessons and comical situations that came with the scenarios on the show, and that’s where Seales comes in. She played Deonne, their older sister’s sassy friend and nemesis to their best friend.
She’s a Smart Multi Hyphenate
Amanda Seales used to be known as Amanda Diva. Back in that time, she was a rapper and sang, and she was also a DJ. She also paints and is a former gymnast. In addition to all of the above, she also has a BA from SUNY Purchase and an MA from Columbia University with a concentration in Hip-Hop.

Amanda Seales was raised by her mom, who is from Grenada, but she has mentioned that her dad is African-American with Boston roots. She wasn’t close to her dad growing up, so she leaned heavily into her Grenadian roots, but she grew up in the United States, so both experiences inform how she moves.

Amanda Seales auditioned for the movie “Girls Trip” and was being considered for the role of Dina, which ended up going to Tiffany Haddish. Amanda Seales playing Dina would have been the opposite of bourgie Tiffany Dubois.
