This Woman Ingeniously Turned A Viral Mugshot Into An Advertisement, And People Are Here For It

"The way you turned shade into a marketing opportunity is a great moment in Black Twitter History."

Starting the year off with an arrest is less than ideal for most people, but for one Charlotte resident, a mugshot will never stop her shine.

On Jan. 3, Shia Yearwood was arrested and charged with violating a domestic protective order in Mecklenburg County, NC. When her mugshot was posted to the county's records, it was then shared by the Twitter account @CharlotteMugs, according to the Charlotte Observer.

  • After the shady post to the Charlotte Mugshots twitter page, Shia's photo, specifically her braids, received much attention

  • Eventually Shia revealed she did her own hair after the numerous requests
