Jordan Jefferson Suspended After Being Charged With Felony
The LSU football program got the news it has been dreading all week. The Baton Rouge police department issued felony warrants on Friday for starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson and backup linebacker Joshua Johns in connection with a bar fight.
The players’ attorney, Nathan Fisher, said the two would turn themselves in. Both Jefferson and Johns are facing second-degree battery charges for the fight that left four people injured, according to an espn.com report.
The school didn’t waste time putting Jefferson and Johns under indefinite suspension.
The loss of Jefferson, a four-year starter, could be devastating to the fourth-ranked Tigers BCS national title hopes. They are set to take on third-ranked Oregon in the season opener Sept. 3 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX.
But Jefferson appears to have much more serious problems after at least one witness says she saw several LSU players assaulting one of the victims and another witness reported that Jefferson kicked someone in the face.
