David Banner: Trump's Election Is 'the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Black People'
While many have taken to social media to express their outrage, shock and overall emotions regarding the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, one rapper and activist in particular is attempting to look on the bright side.
While his distinctive perspective is already triggering a series of criticisms on social media, David Banner truly believes that Donald Trump becoming the next U.S. president does not signal the end of the world for folks of color.
"This may be the best thing to ever happen to Black people," Banner stated, kicking off a session on Facebook Live.
He then explains his bold statement saying that now, people of color now have no choice but to become more politically involved. He then goes on to explain his point of view that if Hillary Clinton had won, members of the Black community would have continued to allow the government to ignore the injustices that minorities consistently experience and have no choice but to endure.
"I love y'all with all my heart," Banner adds. "I honestly think this is going to be one of the best times in history because we are about to change s**t. At least I am, I don't know what the f**k y'all going to do."
Throughout his session on Facebook Live, the rapper urges communities to do more to build themselves up and to do more to depend less on the government.
