Here’s What John McCain’s Daughter Said While Eulogizing Her Dad That Led To A Round of Applause
Donald Trump may not have been present during John McCain's funeral services, but there were some very direct shots sent his way.
Meghan McCain threw some fierce blows at Trump while delivering a heartfelt and empowering speech during her late father's memorial.
McCain paid homage to her father for being a great warrior who was "defined by love," not politics. "We gather here to mourn the passing of American greatness, the real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly," she said.
Honoring all of his accomplishments she continued, "He was a hero. He was a congressman. He was a senator. He was a nominee for president of the United States. These are all the titles on a wall of a life well lived. He was a great man."
Garnering the applause of the entire cathedral, Meghan McCain boldly proclaimed, "The America of John McCain is generous and welcoming and bold. She is resourceful, confident and secure. She meets her responsibilities. She speaks quietly because she is strong. America does not boast because she has no need to."
Our forever President Barack Obama took more subtle jabs at Donald Trump and "petty" politics during his touching tribute to Senator McCain.
Although John McCain's family made it clear that Trump was not invited, Trump's daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner were in attendence while he reportedly visited the Trump National Golf Club in Virigina.
Here's what social media had to say about Meghan McCain's shade at Donald Trump:
