UPDATE: On Friday, Bill Cosby's attorney sent a strongly-worded letter to Fordham University calling its statement about rescinding Cosby's honorary doctoral degree "so irresponsible as to shock the conscience." 
"The statement grossly mischaracterizes both Mr. Cosby's actions and his deposition testimony, in language more befitting a tabloid journal rather than a respected institution of higher learning," attorney John P. Schmitt of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler wrote to the Rev. Joseph McShane, president of Fordham. 
"The mischaracterization of Mr. Cosby's testimony is so egregious that one can only conclude that it was written by one either unfamiliar with the testimony or determined deliberately to misrepresent Mr. Cosby's words," he wrote.

Bill Cosby has one less degree to his name. Fordham University, which bestowed the comedy icon with an honorary doctorate in 2001, has revoked the degree in light of the multiple allegations of sexual abuse against the actor and his own admission that he routinely drugged women for the purpose of sex.

A rep for Fordham explained in a statement that the school "has taken this extraordinary step in light of Mr. Cosby’s now-public court depositions that confirm many of the allegations made against him by numerous women." 

The statement continued, "A recipient's actions would have to be both unambiguously dishonorable and have a deep impact. By his own admission, Mr. Cosby’s sexual exploitation of women was premeditated and ongoing. Equally appalling is his longtime strategy of denigrating the reputations of women who accused him of such actions." 

The rep went on to say that Cosby was "willing to drug and rape women for his sexual gratification, and further damage those same women's reputations and careers to obscure his guilt, hurt not only his victims, but all women, and is beyond the pale."
This is the first time in the university's 174 year history that an honorary degree has been revoked. It's just one fallen piece in Cosby's crumbling empire and reputation since more than 40 women came forward to accuse him of rape or sexual misconduct.
