2021 BET Hip Hop Awards: These 5 Songs Are Worth An Honorable Mention

Cordae is coming.

The 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards  in the books, living up, once again, to its title of the “biggest night in hip hop”. 

From 85 South (DC Young Fly, Karlous Miller, and Chico Bean) returning as guest host and Nick Cannon’s surprise cameo, to Remy Ma and Trina turning back the hands of time in their stunning numbers while presenting, the night had too many memories to count.

While “Wap” was dubbed “Song of The Year,” here are five songs that are worth an honorable mention.

  1. "2055"

    For those who slept on Sleepy Hallow’s debut album Still Sleep? earlier this summer, the special deluxe edition was just recently released last Friday (October 8), containing the smash hit “2055,” which charted at No. 51 on the Hot 100.

  2. "Super"

    Cordae has been preparing for the release of his much anticipated sophomore album From A Bird’s Eye View, which is set to release later this year.

    Released Oct. 7,  “Super” is his newest single, which offers the young North Carolina rapper showing off his lyrical dexterity and flaunting about his luxurious life. Produced by Kid Culture and Jenius, the new track is one that could shoot to the top.

  3. "Contacts"

    Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins has been laying low since the release of his The Circus EP last year. 

    As of (Oct. 8), however, he’s released his latest single “Contacts,” which is set to be in his upcoming studio album, Elephant In The Room. Make sure you check out the lyrical exercise above.

  5. "Lay Yo Head"

    Born Shamsud-din Jaiteh, Luh Dino is a 19-year-old rapper from Atlanta, Ga. with a vocal range that will match any of your favorite r&b artists.   ,

    Along with his song “Double It", Lil Keed's remix of Trey Songz classic “Lay Yo Head” has the younger generation going crazy and could very well be the cuffing season anthem of the year. 

  6. "Track and Field"

    Songs have their way of growing in popularity over time and such could very well be the case of Gucci’s So Icy artist, Enchanting. She and Kali’s song, “Track and Field” has one of those catchy vibes that only needs a TikTok trend to take off.
