A$AP Rocky Charged With Assault In Sweden Case, Ordered To Stay In Jail Until Trial
Harlem rap artist A$AP Rocky’s Sweden confinement has unfortunately taken a turn for the worst after Swedish prosecutors and his attorney revealed that he will be officially charged with assault, NBC News reports.
The site adds that Rocky will reportedly be held until the trial for the charges begins on Tuesday, a date that Slobodan Jovicic, his lawyer, confirmed at a news conference, as a prosecutor recommended three days for the hearing.
Public prosecutor Daniel Suneson also made a statement on the charges Thursday (July 25), citing three people that he would be bringing the case against. If you’ll recall, Rocky was arrested with two other associates. "I have today commenced criminal proceedings against the three individuals suspected of assault causing actual bodily harm, having come to the conclusion that the events in question constitute a crime and despite claims of self-defense and provocation,” NBC News reports of Suneson’s statement.
The Sun further reports that, if convicted, Rocky could also face up to two years in prison. Meanwhile, the alleged victim, who is shown following and provoking Rocky’s crew in video footage of the incident, will not face any charges.
Jovicic continues holding that Rocky and his crew were acting in self-defense.
We will keep you updated on this case as new information becomes available.
