Scarface Shares Sobering Update Following Coronavirus Diagnosis
While Houston rap legend Scarface is lucky to have survived his frightening bout with COVID-19, he recently revealed that his health issues are far from over.
The Geto Boys’ rapper appeared on FOX 26 Houston last week, where he shared some details about how contracting the COVID-19 virus affected his overall wellness over the last three months since he was first diagnosed in March. The rapper, who is asthmatic, shared that his kidneys have yet to recover from his battle with the illness.
He continued, “COVID attacked my lungs first, and then it attacked my kidneys and knocked them out. I got full lung recovery, but my kidneys never came back.”
Scarface revealed that he has since been placed on dialysis. “I almost died right here in this bedroom. If you asked my kidney specialist, she would tell me I’m supposed to be dead,” the rapper admitted. By the time the 15th of March got here, I was blood sick. Dead sick.”
Even though Scarface has not experienced shortness of breath, a common side effect of those who have suffered through the virus, he shared that he still can’t walk for long distances. Nevertheless, the 49-year-old said that he’s just “glad to be alive.”
Previously, Scarface gave even more details about his ongoing health struggles in a livestream with fellow Geto Boys member Willie D.
“I fought the COVID, double bilateral pneumonia and kidney failure, all in my house,” he said. “This my new lifeline. I gotta change my entire diet. I gotta do dialysis four times a week, three hours a day. That’s taking all of my blood out, cleaning it, and putting it back in my body. Before the COVID, I never had kidney problems before.”
