2021 Soul Train Awards: 3 Songs That Prove Why Giveon Earned An ‘Album of the Year’ Nomination
Singer and songwriter Giveon is having quite the career run. The baritone-toting R&B crooner only had a handful of songs online, including “Garden Kisses” and “Like I Want You,” before landing a co-sign from Grammy-award winning Drake. Since the release of his debut full-length album Take Time, the California native has achieved mass success.
The 26-year-old was nominated for several Soul Train Awards, including “Album of the Year," for his latest effort, When It's All Said and Done...Take Time, a collection of his previously released tracks and then some. Ahead of this year’s show, we’re looking at some of the songs off the album that prove why it deserved the nomination. Take a look below.
“Still Your Best”
No one likes a bitter breakup, but in this soulful ballad, Giveon reminds his ex that no one they encounter will ever be as good as he was.
“All To Me”
A newbie not previously featured on any other projects, “All To Me” takes a softer approach to a breakup. Like many of his other records, Giveon’s pen game shines bright on this song.
“Heartbreak Anniversary”
The second single released from his debut album, Take Time, the down-tempo ballad became one of Giveon’s biggest singles peaking at No. 5 Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs.
