Dawn Richard Transports to a Futuristic Utopia in 'Calypso'
Dawn Richard transports to a virtual utopia set in the future for her newly released “Calypso” music video. The New Orleans native has long since shed her Danity Kane skin and transcended out of the R&B/pop domain, as the single’s thumping electronic beats showcase.

The music video is directed by digital GIF artist Kytten Janae, and is a forward-thinking play off the Greek mythology figure the song is titled after. “We wanted to capture her essence in the video virtually,” Richard said in a Rap-Up interview.
Besides being the fifth video from her Blackheart album, which was released in January, “Calypso” debuted under her new stage name: DΔWN.
As she explained, “I’m just letting go of my last name. It’s time.”
