What Does Nicki Minaj Have to Do With the Iggy Azalea / Nick Young Saga?
You need Cliff's Notes to keep on with this saga!
Iggy Azalea and Nick Young seem to be in the midst of a very public breakup after Young's teammate on the Los Angeles Lakers, D'Angelo Russell, exposed him for cheating on his pop-star girlfriend. The drama started when an audio clip that Russell secretly recorded — why? — of Young confessing to sleeping around was leaked online.
Now, there's a fourth player in this whole drama: Iggy's arch-nemesis Nicki Minaj. According to a source for ESPN, the audio was leaked by Nicki in an attempt to "ruin Iggy's life." Apparently, Nicki was so angry at the shade Iggy threw her way during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live last week that she took ultimate revenge.
“Somebody from Nicki Minaj’s camp, a source, got the video and they sent it in. And they said here put this out because Iggy want to talk mess about Nicki Minaj, put this out and let her know what her fiancé is doing… It had nothing to do with the basketball players,” said celebrity gossip blogger Fameolous to ESPN Houston 97.5 radio.
This new plot twist is as far-fetched as they come, but Nicki did warn Iggy multiple times not to come for her. The question still remains as to why Russell decided to pull a Watergate on his teammate in the first place. Does Nicki have something on him? In all seriousness, it's not clear what he has to gain from ruining Nick and Iggy's lives, and now it seems he's going down, too. Russell is being treated like a social pariah by his fellow Lakers following his snitch.
Young broke his silence on the scandal at a team press conference after last night's game. "I feel as sick as possible ... I wish I could make things better right away, but I can't," he said after expressing his reluctance to discuss the matter.
