E-NEWS: American Gangsters Speak

Posted Oct. 29, 2007 - Just in time for the release of "American Gangster," New York Magazine will feature a joint interview this week between rival drug kingpins Frank Lucas and Leroy "Nicky" Barnes, conducted by Mark Jacobson.

Jacobson, whose 2000 New York Magazine story, served as the basis for the film, sat down and discussed a variety of issues with both former drug lords including their legacy in the game, their admiration and respect for one another and Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign. Guiliani pursued both men while serving as New York's District Attorney.

Giuliani would make a good President because he's a principled guy," says Barnes, according to excerpts printed in the New York Daily News. Lucas agrees. "When Giuliani tells you something, he means it. But I don't think we're ready for an Italian President … a black President … a woman President. But I tell you right now: I think Hillary Clinton will win this thing hands down."  Barnes concurs: "Hillary will be the next President.
