Cory Goldstein, the 22-year-old white college student who caught fade from a Black fellow student for rocking locs, just released a video on social media to explain himself and defend his hairstyle.
In response to Bonita Tindel's assertion that locs are a Black thing, Goldstein says the style doesn't belong to the "colored community." Oh boy.

"It's not even a part of the, like, colored community's culture. Like it may be ingrained in it but it's ingrained in so many cultures other than that," he says. "It's everywhere. It's not something that is just part of the colored community." He also said, "The face that I have locs does not mean that I'm trying to appropriate anyone's culture, it means I love and respect their culture and it's something that I hold true to myself."

Goldstein then remarked on the altercation its self: "I tried to leave multiple times and she wouldn't let me. She kept grabbing me, pushing me back, trying to make her point or something. I felt that I didn't need to explain my self, my hair, my rules, my body."

While Tindle has not come forward about the incident herself, her roommate Vanessa Hernandez said that she was not surprised that her roommate spoke up. "It's been going on for a while," Hernandez said, defending his roommate. "Her passion and social justice and Black power and everything."

As previously reported, Goldstein has filed a police report against Ms. Tindle but is not pressing charges, stating, “I decided to let the education system deal with her.” Their school, San Francisco State University is investigating the incident.
