CNN reports that eight women have come forward and accused the longtime actor of sexual misconduct, but one is catching particular attention and it’s via a reporter from the news network.

Chloe Melas, a reporter for CNN, was the one who broke the major story on Thursday (May 24) after a six-month investigation. She reported that several women were accusing Freeman of sexual harassment and improper behavior that ranged from suggestive comments to unwanted touching.

As opposed to most #MeToo stories we’ve read so far, Melas didn’t receive a tip, rather, she claims she experienced some of that misconduct, which prompted her to investigate Freeman and any inappropriate conduct in his long history in the spotlight.

Melas’ experience stemmed from publicity event last year for “Going in Style,” a film starring Mr. Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin. There’s video of the actor saying “I wish I was there” to Melas during the panel, which supposedly surrounded other sexually explicit comments he made, however, those were not caught on tape.

It’s having some calling into question not only Melas’ accusations against Morgan Freeman, but also, the others she reportedly spoke to who also claim they experienced inappropriate conduct by him.

To be clear, critics of the harassment accounts that have so far been leveled against Morgan Freeman are just that. One of the women Melas spoke with was Chicago WGN-TV entertainment producer Tyra Martin who claims Freeman "always made sexually charged comments."

While Martin claimed she was always "in on the joke," she did feel like Freeman crossed the line when "he asked her not to pull down her skirt as she stood up to leave the interview."

Video obtained by HLN also showed Freeman saying, "I am enjoying bachelor life immensely. I get to look at you and drool," after Martin inquired about the actor's dating life.

Just yesterday, Morgan Freeman issued another statement explaining further why he’s innocent of any sexual misconduct while expressing that all women and their stories should be heard.

"I am devastated that 80 years of my life is at risk of being undermined, in the blink of an eye, by Thursday's media reports,” the statement reads. "All victims of assault and harassment deserve to be heard. And we need to listen to them. But it is not right to equate horrific incidents of sexual assault with misplaced compliments or humor.

"I admit that I am someone who feels a need to try to make women—and men—feel appreciated and at ease around me,” he continues. “As part of that, I would often try to joke with and compliment women, in what I thought was a light-hearted and humorous way.

"Clearly I was not always coming across the way I intended. And that is why I apologized Thursday and will continue to apologize to anyone I might have upset, however unintentionally.

"But I also want to be clear: I did not create unsafe work environments. I did not assault women. I did not offer employment or advancement in exchange for sex. Any suggestion that I did so is completely false."
