Rich Swann WWE Wrestler Rich Swann Was Arrested And Charged With Kidnapping, Falsely Imprisoning His Wife
Rich Swann is being held in a Florida jail without bail after being arrested and charged with battery and false imprisonment.
The 26-year-old former WWE cruiserweight champion was detained by police in Gainesville on Saturday night (December 9) after arguing with his wife and fellow pro-wrestler Vannarah Riggs.
Gainesville Police say the alleged incident broke out while they were in a car. It happened after Swann criticized Riggs’ wrestling match at the 8 Seconds Nightclub in downtown Gainesville earlier in the evening.
Authorities claim Riggs was frightened by the argument they were having would turn into “physical violence.” Subsequently, she tried to leave the vehicle and run, which then had Swann running after her yelling at her to get back into the car.
A witness says that when Riggs refused to make return, Swann put her in a headlock and dragged her back into the car. After they were inside, the witness says Riggs screamed for help and banged on the window.
Another witness claims Swann drove erratically and that Riggs jumped out of the moving car, which was moving slowly. Swann subsequently also got out of the car while it was moving and followed Riggs.
Police say Swann is claiming he did not touch Riggs and she got back into the car voluntarily.
The WWE has suspended Rich Swann indefinitely and in a statement say they have “zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence.” He is due to appear in court on Monday.
