The Chicagoan famously came to social blows with the Twitterverse in 2018 over his support for Donald Trump, which resulted in him losing a reported eight million followers on the platform in the matter of a few minutes. Most recently, the Jesus Is King artist told Big Boy in a recent interview that he didn’t care “what Black Twitter has to say” about him.

Kanye reiterated thoughts on the social community again for the New York Times’ Dealbook Conference on Wednesday (Nov. 6), according to Rolling Stone.

'Ye was in New York with Kim Kardashian-West and Kris Jenner, who were part of the conference, and at some point, the rapper got on the mic. Riffing off an impromptu five-minute speech, which blasted Black Twitter and social media in general, the “God Is” rapper drifted off into his rant.

It started when Kanye, who was in the audience (and not an actual member of the panel itself), credited Trump for apparently making it easier for Black people to buy land in America.

“We have 12,500 acres in Cody, Wyoming, and Trump has actually opened up the ability to buy more land in America,” he praised of Trump. “In America you can buy land, and we can be owners. We don’t have to be just the product of what Black Twitter tells us what we’re supposed to do.”

He then went on to say, “My father was a Black Panther and my mother was arrested for the sit-ins at age six, to fight for the right for us to vote, but it was the right to vote for who we tell you to vote on. It’s OK that any Black man voted for Hillary. But if a Black man didn’t vote for Hillary, you’re a coon.” 

Ironically, he continued with the note, “my parents fought for us to have the right for us to have our own opinion,” before he ended with his belief that social media can be a form of mind control and finally relinquished the mic.
