Coi Leray Responds To Benzino’s Outburst
It recently seemed that Coi Leray and her father, Benzino, were on good terms, but that went up in smoke earlier this week.
The “Players” rapper criticized the rapper and former co-owner of The Source magazine for numerous reasons, including his absence during her childhood and being jealous of her success. In turn, Benzino denied her claims and said he should be able to request money from her because he’s responsible for creating her.
Benzino Says Somethings Are ‘Beyond’ Repair After Coi Leray Claims He Was ‘Envious’ of Her Success in New Interview
Now, Coi is responding. On Tuesday (November 14), she took to her Instagram Live. “It just seems like every single time … instead of you congratulating me and be happy for me, you want to go online and try to use me to prove yourself to these people and this industry,” she said. “I don’t want to be your clout kid. I rather us … again … just hit me, offline.”
Earlier this month, Coi Leray detailed the tension she has had with her father since becoming famous. Speaking with Angie Martinez IRL, she explained where it began.
“At first it was rocky, because I felt like he couldn’t handle my success,” Leray said. “I felt like it did come from an envious place. Which is okay, because he’s human, and that’s fine.”
Benzino blamed the entertainment industry for influencing his daughter's thoughts and claimed she was pushing a false narrative of him not being around and providing for her and the rest of the family.
