Justin Timberlake angered fans on Twitter over the weekend by posting an insensitive birthday tweet for his pal Madonna. The singer referred to the pop icon, who turned 56, as his "mother chucking ninja," clearly what he felt was a safe approximation of the phrase, "motherf---ing n---a."
The tweet, which has since been deleted, reportedly read: "A happiest of Bdays to my mother chucking ninja, @Madonna!! Hope you have a great one, M!"
Well, it was too close for comfort for many of Timberlake's followers. "I just ended my relationship w/Justin" and "Get Justin Timberlake the f--k out of here" were just some of the outraged remarks posted.
Timberlake has not commented on or apologized for the gaffe.
