Kobe Bryant Pushes Himself Further to Basketball Greatness

The Black Mamba becomes third NBA player to reach 33,000 points.

As if five championships, two Finals MVPs and 17 All-Star Game selections weren't enough, Kobe Bryant is making sure to push himself even further into the annals of NBA history.

In scoring 28 points in the Los Angeles Lakers's 118-115 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night, the Black Mamba reached the 33,000 points threshold, joining Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players in league history to be in that club.

Reaching the mark at 37-years-old, Bryant also becomes the youngest player to notch 33,000 points as well.

Considering Bryant was already an undoubted Hall of Fame-bound shooting guard before Thursday night's accomplishment, this just serves as extra-thick icing on the cake.

The only things left would be for Bryant to play in his final All-Star Game next month and the Lakers to possibly retire both numbers (8 and 24), as has been rumored, that he wore in purple and gold, in the ultimate sign of respect.
