Floyd Mayweather Remains Undefeated

Boxing got bizarre last night when Floyd Mayweather, Jr. dropped Victor Ortiz in the fourth round of their title fight in just under three minutes. Ortiz claims he was blind-sided and Mayweather says he was head-butted.

Fight fans in Las Vegas got to witness a quick fight, less than halfway through the 12-round bout, when the undefeated champion released a left and then a right-hand punch to the head of Ortiz. This round wasn’t controversial in its own right, but the 34-year-old athlete threw these hits right after a break, and after Ortiz head-butted him, kissed him on a cheek with an apology and then hugged him.

According to Forbes.com, Ortiz complained, “I took the break by the referee and I obeyed exactly as I was told. And then, boom, he blindsided me.”

Mayweather sees it differently. “He did something dirty when it was his corner who said I was dirty. But I won the fight.”

The Welterweight also says, “We touched gloves and we were back to fighting and then I threw the left and right hand after the break. In the ring you have to protect yourself at all times.”

The ref says Mayweather did nothing wrong and Ortiz should have protected himself.
