The Return Of MTV'S 'TRL' Features Migos, DJ Khaled, And More

It's showtime!

Nearly ten years after Total Request Live dimmed the lights on its Times Square office, the live studio series is back, and it is bringing a lot of hot new talent. After announcing its return in July 2017, MTV is premiering its first episode on the network on Oct. 2, featuring a roaring live audience and performances by Migos, DJ Khaled and more.

In preparation for the premiere episode, TRL announced its new hosts, full of promising young talent. There will reportedly be a series of rotating hosts, including DC Young Fly, Lawrence Jackson, Amy Pham, Tamara Dhia and Erik Zachary. In the past, Carson Daly, La La Vasquez and Vanessa Lachey manned the stage.

In terms of performances, TRL has a pretty stacked week. It’s premiere episode will welcome surprises from Migos, Ed Sheeran and DJ Khaled. Demi Lovato, Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti are also expected to stop by later in the week.

While there are a lot of new things happening over at TRL, some things will remain the same. The show will continue to film at its studio in Times Square. “If we’re going to come back and reinvent MTV, the studio is a given,” MTV president Chris McCarthy previously told The New York Times. “It is the centerpiece."

TRL previously ran from 1998 until 2008. Things are about to get crazy. If you happen to be in New York City, stop by Times Square to see TRL in action. If not, the premiere episode kicks off at 3:30 p.m. EDT on Oct. 2.
