The Shade Is Real: Klay Thompson's Dad Has Words for LeBron James
LeBron James silenced some of his doubters Monday night, dropping 41 points to lead his Cleveland Cavaliers to a Game 5 victory over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, staving off elimination and forcing a Game 6 on Thursday night.
One of those haters was none other than Klay Thompson's dad, Mychal Thompson, who won two NBA championships with Magic Johnson and the Showtime Los Angeles Lakers from 1987-88.
Before the Game 5 tip-off last night, Mychal aimed for the crown on King James's head, taking this shot at LeBron:
And Klay's pops was just warming up.
Damn. Shots fired. King down. The shade is real, ain't it?
Of course, Mr. Thompson's opinions on LeBron have to do with him stepping over Draymond Green in Game 4 and then complaining that the Warriors' All-Star forward called him a "b****" during their altercation — paving the way for Green's Game 5 suspension.
Judging from the way King James played last night, though, Klay's daddy might want to exercise some chill.
We know you have supreme confidence in your son and his Splash Brothers' brethren, Stephen Curry, getting the job done and defeating LeBron's Cavs for the second year in a row, but don't fuel King James's fire, either.
But to his point... do you think LeBron could've survived the more-physical NBA of the 1980s?
At 6-foot-8, 250 pounds, his body is definitely built for contact... but we could see King James complaining in that era a whole lot more.
