Mavado's Claim of Racism at Philippe Chow Is Refuted
Mavado publicly complained that upscale New York City restaurant Philippe Chow mistreated him with racist intentions, and now the establishment has responded, refuting his claims and saying that they cater to Black people often.
According to TMZ, the "Give It All to Me" singer dined at Philippe with his family last Thursday (March 26) and was treated like "second class citizens." He said that they were escorted to the back of the restaurant, ordered not to take pictures, scolded by their waiter and told to never come back. However, after he left and they realized who he was, the staff began singing a different tune and showered him with apologies.
Philippe Chow has now responded to the claims, saying that they are "proud to have an excellent relationship with all our customers, especially the Black community and people of color." They even went on to add how frequently people of color visit their eatery, saying, "on a weekly basis we have famous and non-famous Black people."
They ended their response with a plug, encouraging patrons to visit them on social media to prove that they're being truthful: "Don't just listen to us, visit our Instagram and see for yourself."
After denying the claims of mistreatment, the restaurant's personnel said that if that was the impression that was left with the Jamaica-born star, they apologize.
