BET Awards 2022: Tyler, The Creator Takes Us on a Blended Rhythmic Journey with ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’

What’s your favorite track from this Grammy Award-winning album?

Tyler, the Creator’s sixth studio album, Call Me If You Get Lost, is what some might call a dream come true. A little over a decade after manifesting a mixtape collaboration with legendary hip hop producer DJ Drama, the California native with the astronomical aspiration achieved his goal and then some. The self-produced 16-track project featured various musical guest appearances, including Ty Dolla $ign, Pharrell Williams, and Brent Faiyaz, and earned “Best Rap Album” during the 2021 Grammy Awards. The effort also earned the multi-hyphenated a nomination for “Album of Year” at the BET Awards 2022 hosted by actress Taraji P.Henson live from Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater on Sunday, June 26 at 8 p.m. EST. Before then, check out some of our favorite tracks from Call Me If You Get Lost.

  • “Corso”

In “Corso,” Tyler discusses his social life and influence on people around him. Fun Fact: frequent collaborator and close friend A$AP Rocky was initially supposed to appear on the record but ghosted Tyler for five months.

“I made that beat for me and Rocky’s sh-t, but that n-gga ignored me for five months,” he said to a crowd during a pop-up show. “So the middle part where DJ Drama [is] yelling and I’m not rapping? That was for Rocky, but the n-gga—[shrugs].”

  • “Lumberjack”

In 2021, Tyler the Creator took audience members and viewers on a windy ride for his first ever BET Awards performance of his hit single “Lumberjack.” During his set, the Grammy Award-winning rapper finds himself caught in a windstorm as he makes his way to the annual ceremony. Tyler’s creativity blew fans away and racked up over 1,200,000 views on YouTube.

  • “LEMONHEAD”

“LEMONHEAD” is the third track off Tyler’s album CMIYGL and it features rising rapper 42 Dugg and longtime pal and collaborator Frank Ocean. The song finds the trio bragging about each other’s opulence and luxurious possessions.

  • “WUSYANAME” feat. YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Ty Dolla $ign

Tyler raps about finding love and then heartbreak in “WUSYANAME.” The track features rapper Young Boy Never Broke Again and Ty Dolla $ign and samples H-Town’s smash hit “Beat Seat With No Sheets.”

  • “Juggernaut” feat Lil Uzi Vert and Pharrell Williams

This distorted, bass-heavy track is the last song on Tyler’s album CMIYGL, with guest appearances from Lil Uzi Vert and Pharrell Williams—and, of course, DJ Drama’s vocals sprinkled across the project—it’s no wonder why the rapper left this song for last.

Tune into the BET Awards 2022 Sunday, June 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET.
