2017 was undoubtedly the year of Migos. Since dropping off their second studio album Culture in January, the Atlanta trio have earned guest spots on a bevy hits which included a merging of sounds within the pop realm.

Now, in a recent interview with Montreality the super group seems to have made a bold claim that they are responsible for diversifying the sound of rap. 

During the sitdown, the "Bad and Boujee" rappers detailed their upcoming follow-up to Culture as well as their impactful style. According to Quavo, their influence on other artists is rather blatant at this point. "We in a time right now where we setting a trend," the 26-year-old explained. "We started this whole little wave, we started the whole genre, we started the whole flow, the whole melody."

"Ain’t nobody right now who can say they ain’t took our flow at one point in their career," he continued. "We ain’t tripping, we never did trip. Hip-hop has changed in a big way, we changed it."

In spite of how anyone might feel about Quavo’s claims, there’s no denying that everyone from Drake to J. Cole and many others have all used the triplet flow Migos popularized with “Versace.” Quavo goes on to tease his long-rumored joint project with Travis Scott, saying that he has recorded over 20 songs for their collaborative effort and it's set to drop “real soon.” Meanwhile, Offset hints that their forthcoming album Culture II is set to be a “masterpiece.”
