Days after one member of Bobby Shmurda's crew was sentenced to 98 1/3 years in prison, another GS9 crewmember, 22-year-old Alex Crandon, was handed a 53 1/3 year prison term with conspiracy, murder, and attempted murder convictions

According to the New York Daily News Crandon mumbled through a plea for a shorter term, and sympathy from the judge during his May 20th conviction hearing. "Please allow me the opportunity to become a productive citizen and raise my daughter to become one also," he said.

Instead of responding with sympathy, Supreme Court Justice Abraham Clott gave Crandon a taste of some hard truth instead, telling him that "he gave up irrevocably the opportunity" to enjoy life as a free man and that there is "really no reason to risk the safety of the public."

Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan agreed with Clott in writing. "The residents of East Flatbush should feel safer, because the defendant will no longer be able to terrorize their streets," she wrote in a statement.

Shmurda, whose legal name is Ackquille Pollard, will be tried in connection to the same conspiracy in September, and could face an equally harsh sentence.
