SZA Details Why She Removed Her Breast Implants
Throughout the years, SZA has gone through a few transformations and she doesn’t shy away from having surgical assistance to get herself the body she desires, like her BBL and having her breasts done. However, SZA has now decided to remove her breast implants for her health.
SZA appeared on the podcast SheMD, a podcast for women who want to own their health, hosted by SZA’s doctor, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, aka Dr. A, and women's advocate and influencer, Mary Alice Haney and was very transparent about her and her family’s medical history, including that breast cancer runs in her family. Sza’s mother, Audrey Rowe, and aunt have dealt with breast cancer diagnoses; and her aunt had undergone a mastectomy. These details of SZA’s family history have helped her decide to remove her implants.
Dr. A explained that the “Saturn” singer “has a 53% lifetime risk” of developing breast cancer due to her family history. SZA also shared that getting breast implants led to her discovery that she was suffering from fibrosis, which is the overgrowth, hardening, and/or scarring of various tissues. Fibrosis is attributed to the excess deposition of extracellular matrix components, including collagen. SZA said that despite having fibrosis and being advised not to have the surgery, she went forward with the breast implants. Her body, her choice.
“When I got my boobs done, my doctor took out some of my fibrosis, but.. there was so much fibrosis, it was crazy and he took it out. When I went back, a lot of the concerns were gone,” she said. She shared, “I have markers in my breast, like metal markers in my breast for these fibrosis, for these lumps or whatever, I’m not supposed to be getting breast implants.”
SZA continued, “So basically, I put them in. They ended up hurting me. I have way too much scar tissue because my breasts are too dense, and I’m not supposed to have breast implants. And so I ended up getting extra fibrosis like with tissue, whatever, and I didn’t feel good and it was painful. So, I took them out, and now, they’re just my boobs.”
Moral of the story? Listen to the medical professionals who advise you towards your best health.
SZA admits to leaning heavily on Dr. A, even with issues that she doesn’t cover, like if her boyfriend is having chest pains. “I’m naughty, but also attentive,” SZA said of her constant calls and texts to Dr. A, being a plastic surgery rebel and her journey to her best health.
