Over a year after his departure from Scandal, Columbus Short is playing a character helping to solve a crime rather than cover it up. The actor stars in the independent film The Girl Is in Trouble, playing a Lower East Side DJ whose world is shaken up when he gets a phone call in the middle of the night from a girl he met at one of his clubs.
Scared and in shock, the girl (Alicja Bachleda) confides in Short that she witnessed and is involved in a murder mystery centered around a missing drug dealer and New York’s most powerful stockbroker. This kicks off Short's descent into the dark underworld of New York City, headed by a tough gangster played by Wilmer Valderrama.
