In Case You're Wondering What Nicki Minaj's New Music Will Sound Like...
After riding the wave of her featured tracks with various pop and hip-hop artists, Nicki Minaj is finally ready to give her Barbs some new, solo tunes. Although it seems like fans have been waiting an awfully long time, Nicki assures that what she has coming up is going to be well worth the wait. In her latest interview, the Queens-bred rapper spilled that the next chapter of her music career is going to be even more epic than anything we’ve ever seen from her before.
Nicki compared the new phase to the success of her 2014 mega-hit, “Anaconda,” saying that it was going to surpass the song’s impact and legacy. “This era will be a billion times more epic than anything 'Anaconda' could have delivered,” she told Dazed. “I think this era will definitely be the most memorable and the most impactful of my career yet.”
It’s been three years since “Anaconda” ruled the airwaves, but it undoubtedly made a huge cultural impact. In addition to dominating the Billboard charts, the track’s visuals also made its way into a number of different mediums, including TV series The Simpsons and Twitter memes.
When asked when this new era would be hitting the masses however, Nicki revealed that she wasn’t interested in setting boundaries or a specific timeline. “I’m not rushing the album because it means so much to me. I have to release a classic at this point.” For her, it’s more about feeling the process out and embracing the uncertainty. “I can't say if I'm 50 percent, 80 percent or 10 percent done, because I don't know,” she added. “Tomorrow, I might walk into the studio and decide that I don't like anything I've done in the last six months. Or, tomorrow I might walk in and feel like the whole album is done. There's so much beauty in not knowing.”
This will be Nicki’s fourth album, whenever she decides to drop it. If she keeps her promise and releases something even bigger than “Anaconda,” it’s going to be huge for her career. Stay tuned.
