Report: Freeway Rick Ross Arrested With Suspected Drug Money
Rick Ross's namesake, "Freeway Rick Ross," was arrested in Sonoma County, Calif., last week carrying more than $100,000 in suspected drug money, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Ross, 75, was taken in for suspicions of conspiring to commit a crime regarding sale of a controlled substance, and later released.
Authorities have not officially detailed specifics behind the alleged drugs, but confirmed that the former kingpin was apprehended. According to his Facebook account, the charges have been dropped. "To everyone despite what has been said about me in the media this past weekend, I'm okay & this is just another attempt to drag my name through the mud," he wrote.
In 1996 Ross was sentenced to life in prison for drug trafficking, which was later reduced to 16 and a half years. He was released in 2009.
For the last several years, Ross had been engaged in a legal battle with Rozay for using his name. He lost a lawsuit against he rapper in 2014.
