Floyd Mayweather Jr. Puts His Money on a 50 Cent Film

The 50 Cent brand will be expanding to a movie theater near you. This past weekend at the Sundance Film Festival, the hip-hop mogul revealed that he has teamed with boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. on a new film titled Tomorrow Today.

Allhiphop.com reports that the film, which will be written and directed by 50, will begin shooting this summer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. All of this comes on the heels of a $200 million investment deal for the rapper’s film production company, Cheetah Vision, which will release 10 movies that will be distributed by Lions Gate. (For history buffs, this pop poet/sports film-business collaboration is reminiscent of Richard Pryor’s formation of Indigo Productions with football legend Jim Brown in 1983).

During Sundance, 50 Cent debuted his latest film, Gun, which he also wrote and shot in Grand Rapids last year along with three other movies, including Things Fall Apart and Caught in the Crossfire.

Tomorrow Today is expected to start shooting in August.
