Eminem Boxing Movie Shelved by DreamWorks

The rapper's return to acting will have to wait.

That fight was over before it even started. Southpaw, the boxing drama Shady was meant to star in, has been shelved by its studio DreamWorks, Deadline.com reports. No reason has been given for the sudden kill.
The project has been handed back to Em and director Antoine Fuqua, who are free to set it up elsewhere. The film was meant to have Eminem star as a "fast-rising welterweight boxer who brawls his way to the title, only to see his world crash down around him due to a tragedy."
Fans of Em's work in the 2002 semi-autobiographical picture 8 Mile (and there are many) will have to wait a bit longer to see the multi-talented artist back on the big screen, but insiders claim probably not too long. Given Em's enormous fan base and the success of 8 Mile, the project is expected to be optioned by another studio relatively quickly.
