Kanye West Cancels His Yeezy Season 6 NY Fashion Show
News just broke that Kanye West has cancelled his Yeezy Season 6 fashion show presentation, according to Harper's Bazaar. This news of the show's status comes just as New York Fashion Week (NYFW) officially begins its schedule tomorrow, and as such, appears to be a last-minute decision.
Ye's sixth fashion presentation under his eponymous label was set to occur on September 13 at noon. It was discovered that the show had been called off after Redken, the hair company set to style Yeezy's models, told Harper's Bazaar that they would not be providing services to Ye this NYFW season as a result of the cancellation.
The reason cited for cancellation, occuring to Redken, was as follows: "They did not get the pieces together in time."
Amid a particularly tough year for Kanye, including his wife's robbery and ongoing mental health issues, it does not come as a complete surprise that the show is canceled. Even so, more immediately following the advent of these issues, Kanye was still able to execute his Yeezy Season 5 show this past February.
This news is the latest saga in Pablo's oft-tumultuous relationship with fashion, and more specifically, NYFW. Kanye has, in the past, ruffled the feathers of fashion week head honchos by disrupting the event's rigid schedule, a move that West ultimately apologized for. Yeezy Season 4 saw quality control issues, fainting models and disgruntled, waiting editors — the trifecta of a fashion week misstep.
This marks the first fashion season West has failed to present since he first showed Yeezy Season 1 back in 2015.
The show mustn't go on!
