Exclusive: Mýa Talks About How Her Vegan Diet Helped Her Lose 30lbs in New Peta Campaign
Mýa is vegan, proud and saying it aloud in her brand-new PETA campaign that declares, "Life in Color. Go Vegan for Life." The ad was shot during her Planet 9 world tour and shows the svelte singer adorned in a dress made entirely of fresh vegetables.
Although Mýa describes herself as a "brand-new vegan," she’s actually been following the animal product free diet for three years after transitioning from being vegetarian. In an exclusive video interview with PETA, Mýa shares how her life has changed since the switch. Not only does she credit vegan meals with weight loss, improved health, but also says the diet has rid her of her anemia.
"I'm no longer anemic. I'm intaking so many more healthy foods—obviously vegetables, nuts, greens, seeds that are iron-rich," she says. "Dairy causes mucus buildup, which is awful for singers. I don't get sick! And my skin is clear. I lost 30 pounds. I don't have to go to the gym as much," she laughs off.
