Soul Train Awards 2022: 5 Fiery Tracks By ‘Best New Artist’ Nominee Fireboy DML

After a steady stream of releases with notable features, including “Jealous” and “Vibration,” singer and songwriter Fireboy DML is ready to claim a permanent seat in the music industry. The rising Nigerian star’s efforts have already garnered attention, earning him a nomination at this year’s Soul Train Awards for “Best New Artist.”

The burgeoning artist is up against several equally talented acts, including CKay, Coco Jones, DIXSON, Doechii, Muni Long, Steve Lacy, and Tems. Ahead of this year’s celebration, hosted by comedian Deon Cole, get attuned with this year’s nominee

  • “Peru”

    Fireboy DML’s prayers of someday working with Grammy-award-winning singer and songwriter Ed Shereen were answered after the pair collaborated for the Afropop star’s latest single, “Peru.” The effort resulted in a nomination at the 7th annual African Entertainment Awards USA for Song of the Year and an NAACP Image Award.

  • “Jealous”

    The Nigerian singer found breakthrough success with the release of his 2020 hit “Jealous” thanks to its infectious lyrics and catchy hook.  Director K,  who’s worked with Burna Boy, Davido, and Tiwa Savage, shot the visual for the record.

  • “Vibration”

    “Vibration” is the latest single from the singer’s highly anticipated album, Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps. The music video on YouTube has over one million views.

  • “Playboy”

    “Playboy” appears on the rising musician’s third studio album of the same name,  Playboy.  The 14-track and 44-minute project includes several features, including Chris Brown and Shenseea.

  • “Bandana”

    Fireboy DML gives gratitude to those who've helped him on his path to stardom in this single titled “Bandana.” Fellow Nigerian singer-songwriter Asake is also featured on the track. The music video has been viewed over 19 million times on YouTube.

    The Soul Train Awards 2022 premieres Saturday, November 26 at 8 pm ET/PT on BET and BET Her.
