Soul Train Awards 2023: Beyond the Beats: Exploring David Banner's 5 Ventures Outside of Music

Rapper David Banner is a multifaceted individual whose impact extends far beyond the realm of music. He's an influential figure in activism, championing social justice causes and founding the impactful Heal the Hood Foundation. 

Banner has also ventured into acting, showcasing his talent on screens big and small while also proving his mettle as an entrepreneur through co-founding A Banner Vision, a dynamic multimedia company. 

The industry veteran made an appearance at the “Soul Train Awards 2023,” hosted by Keke Palmer, where he presented T-Pain with the “Legends Award.” The rapper-turned-singer accepted the honors thanking Banner for being his personal life coach.  As we look back at yet another amazing celebration of R&B and soul music, we’re looking at all of Banner's ventures outside of music.

    Beyond his music career, Banner is an activist and commentator on social issues. He's outspoken about racial inequality, economic empowerment, and social justice, using his platform to advocate for change and raise awareness on important societal issues.

    The “Get Like Me” emcee  has made a successful foray into acting and film production. He's appeared in various movies and television shows, including “The Butler,” “Ride Along,” “Black Snack Moan” and more, showcasing his versatility as an artist. 

  • Health and Wellness Advocacy


    Banner has been involved in initiatives aimed at improving access to healthcare, advocating for healthy lifestyles, and supporting mental health awareness. During his acceptance speech at the “Soul Train Awards” 2023, “Legends Awards” recipient T-Pain revealed that Banner had become his life coach.

    Banner is also a business owner. He co-founded A Banner Vision, a multimedia company specializing in film production, content creation, and artist management. Additionally, he's involved in various business endeavors, including real estate investments and promoting financial literacy in underserved communities.

  • Humanitarian Efforts

    In 2005, the “9MM” rapper helped organize the Heal the Hood hip-hop hurricane relief concert in Atlanta, GA. All proceeds and donations went towards helping those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
