iPhone 3G - Instinct Face Off - The Instinct, offered by Sprint, is the first smart phone to match up against the iPhone 3G, offered by AT&T, and in some cases surpass the popular Apple phone. Here's a feature-by-feature faceoff.

Apple iPhone 3G - Smarter, faster, cheaper - the new iPhone uses the latest 3G cell phone network, which many-times faster than the first phone's EVDO network. Web pages load in roughly 3 seconds and there are a ton of new applications which will soon make it a smartphone contender. You should, though, make sure the 3G network works where you are. Some new users have reported spotty coverage. Battery life can be a issue.

Sprint Instinct - More candy-bar shaped than the iPhone 3G, this sleek phone’s keyboard is larger than the iPhone it mimics. Just like the iPhone 3G, it reveals full Web pages. But this Samsung phone lacks the iPhone's 2-finger stretch Web viewing feature. But, the browser is slooooow. On the plus side, it does come with a free second battery and a 2 MP camera-camcorder.

Maps & GPS - Finally, the iPhone 3G comes with real GPS not that fake-me-out stuff the first model offered. However, unlike the Instinct, the iPhone 3G doesn’t have turn-by-turn audible instructions. And, at $129, the Instinct is still cheaper than the 3G, which costs $199, plus another $10 a month for Web service.

Instinct-iPhone 3G Features - Nope! There's no iTunes on an Instinct. Sprint does give you tons of videos, songs and games. To it's credit, the 3G also gives you access to more than 100 new apps. Plus, like Treos and BlackBerries, it now pushes email to the phone, and can now view Microsoft Exchange mail. What it doesn't have is voice dialing, text video or the ability to cut and paste text from a Web page. So, decide what's important to you before plopping down your money.
