MObama Submarine - Following the tradition of past first ladies, Obama is the sponsor of the USS Illinois submarine. On Memorial Day she met with 24 women who will participate in the Navy's nuclear submarine program and serve on ballistic and guided missile subs. "I'm always inspired by the service and sacrifice of the men and women of the Navy, as well as the families who support them,” she said. “This submarine is a tribute to the strength, courage and determination that our Navy families exhibit every day."(Photo: Kristoffer Tripplaar-Pool/Getty Images)
