Locked Up: Rappers Behind Bars

An update on hip hop's most notable convicts.

C-Murder - Three years ago, Master P's brother, No Limit rapper C-Murder, was hit with a life sentence for second-degree murder over the shooting death of a fan during a 2002 fight at a New Orleans–area nightclub. And he isn't going anywhere anytime soon: Last December an appeals court upheld the conviction. (Photo: AP Photo/Police photo, File)

Petey Pablo - In January, the "Raise Up" rapper began serving a 35-month sentence for trying to sneak a gun into a North Carolina airport — on September 11 of all days. While serving his time, the rapper is reportedly receiving substance abuse treatment and job training. That's raising up for real. (Photo: RDU International Airport Police)
Cool C - Philadelphia rapper Cool C, who made noise in the late '80s and early '90s with singles like "Glamorous Life," was given the death sentence for his role in the death of a police officer during a 1993 bank robbery. His execution was originally set for 2006, but it's been on hold since then. An accomplice in the crime was fellow Philly old-schooler Steady B, who's serving a life sentence. But in August, just two weeks before he was supposed to report to prison, cops discovered drugs and a gun in a car the former Roc Boy was riding in. Beans went straight to prison as a result, where he'll serve his time and wait to be tried for the new charges. Oy vey. (Photo: Clem Murray/Staff Photographer/philly.com)
