The Metta World Peace Awards

Former NBA star hands out early season honors.

Metta World Peace Hands Out Early NBA Awards on Twitter - The always entertaining Metta World Peace has taken on the moniker of "The Pandas Friend," while playing for the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association. But that hasn't stopped the former NBA star from checking out NBA action back home. The baller formerly known as Ron Artest took his new NBA fandom to a higher level Tuesday, when he tweeted out early NBA season awards. Now, when we say early, we mean no team has even played nine games yet, early. But that didn't stop Metta World Peace from handing out awards like he was the ESPYs. Here, BET.com chose the very best of World Peace's awards. Peace out (there)! (Photo: ChinaFotoPress/ChinaFotoPress via Getty Images)

Greatest Organization — Boston Celtics - Metta World Peace gave the Boston Celtics the edge over the Los Angeles Lakers based on NBA championships. The Celtics have 17 league titles to their name to the Lakers’ 16 championship banners. Hey, numbers don’t lie. (Photo: Bill Greene/The Boston Globe via Getty Images)

Nick Young Re-Signs With Lakers - "Swaggy P" got himself a new deal. The Associated Press reports that Nick Young signed a multi-year deal to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday. Despite the Lakers ending their 2013-14 season with a terrible 27-55 record, Young averaged 17.9 points per game.(Photo: Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)

Swaggiest Player — Nick Young - Hey, Los Angeles Lakers swingman Nick Young’s nickname is “Swaggy P” after all. Apparently, former Lakers swingman Metta World Peace agrees. Maybe he's a fan of Nick's girl, Iggy Azalea, too. (Photo: Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)

Best City in the NBA — Las Vegas  - Now Metta World Peace might really like Las Vegas, but it’s not an NBA city, unless you’re counting it as one because it’s host to its Summer League. But World Peace hasn’t participated in the Summer League for well over a decade, so we don’t know how he reached this conclusion. Metta being Metta.(Photo: David McNew/Getty Images)

Best Player in the NBA — Anthony Davis - It’s pretty cool to see Metta World Peace follow the NBA so closely all the way from China. How else would he know about New Orleans Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis’s dominating start to the season, in which he is already averaging 24.8 points, 13 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game. Well, he knows his game...just not his name. When giving out his award for Best Player in the NBA, World Peace tweeted, “"Guy from New Orleans." Hilarious! His name is Anthony Davis, Metta. C'mon, son...that brow is universally known. (Photo: Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

MVP — LeBron James - The baller formerly known as Ron Artest must be getting bored with the NBA in some respects. When doling out the award for MVP, he tweeted LeBron "Again" James. Yes, well, another MVP would mark King James's fifth MVP award. Don't hate. (Photo: AP Photo/Mark Duncan)

2015 Champion — Los Angeles Clippers - When predicting the 2014-15 season NBA champion, Metta World Peace tabbed the Los Angeles Clippers. In naming them, we guess World Peace feels extra confident about Chris Paul's and Blake Griffin's ability to not only lead the Clippers to a level they haven't reached in their LA stints — the Western Conference Finals — but to win it all. Even with the San Antonio Spurs out West, Metta? We'll see about this one.(Photo: Stephen Dunn/Getty Images)

On Favorite Players — Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James - Staying on the issue of not knowing names…when handing out the award for his Favorite Players, World Peace rattled off names like Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, while also peculiarly mentioning Memphis’s “starting five,” Boris Diaw and most-hilariously “#2 From The Spurs.” His name is Kawhi Leonard, the 2014 NBA Finals MVP. Surprise Playoff Team — Sacramento Kings - Metta World Peace must really like DeMarcus Cousins. How else would you explain the former NBA star tabbing Cousins and the Sacramento Kings to make the Western Conference playoffs this season? The Kings finished a dismal 28-54 last season. But they're 5-3 early on this season and Cousins is balling with 22.1 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. (Photo: Stephen Dunn/Getty Images)

Best Cheerleaders — Charlotte, Atlanta, Miami - Metta World Peace named the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat as the NBA teams with the best cheerleaders. Looking at the Hawks' cheerleaders, we can't argue with you, man. (Photo: Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

Toughest Media But Not the Best Dressed: NYC - You see the microphones in Carmelo Anthony's face here, don't you? Well, according to Metta World Peace those microphones belong to the "toughest media" in the NBA, "but not the best dressed" in the New York City media. We're sure that's not going to go over well with the media.  (Photo: Jeff Zelevansky/Getty Images)
