Potential Landing Spots for Ray Rice

Could the ex-Ravens running back find a new home in the NFL?

Ray Rice Hopes to Land With Another NFL Team - After winning his appeal and being reinstated to the NFL on Friday, Ray Rice is free to sign with an NFL team. Although his rushing stats have been decreasing over the past three seasons, at 27, Rice still figures to be able to contribute out of the backfield. The question is, which franchise is going to take a chance on the ex-Baltimore Ravens running back with a history of domestic violence? Here, BET.com lines up some potential destinations where Rice could land. (Photo: Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

Baltimore Ravens - Yes, the Baltimore Ravens cut Ray Rice in September upon the release of footage showing the running back punching his then-fiancée, now-wife Janay Rice inside a hotel elevator. But time has passed and there's history there. Rice won a Super Bowl with coach John Harbaugh and quarterback Joe Flacco (both shown here). While we would be surprised to see Rice back in Ravens purple, we wouldn't totally count it out. Stranger things have happened. You never know.  (Photo: Mitchell Layton/Getty Images)

New York Jets - New York Jets fans look away. If there's a "typical Jets move," it's an obscure signing. No need, no reason...just 'cause. In recent years alone, Jets owner Woody Johnson (shown here) has signed off on contracts to add controversial players like Plaxico Burress, Tim Tebow and Michael Vick to Gang Green. Both Burress and Vick were past their primes at the times of their respective deals. Tebow was as obscure as it got. Adding Ray Rice to this list would be a logical move for the Jets, although illogical for many other teams around the NFL. (Photo: Jeff Zelevansky/Getty Images)

Oakland Raiders - The Oakland Raiders are an NFL-worst 1-11. They're also dead last when it comes to rushing. Having a veteran running back like Ray Rice could help change that and perhaps even give Raider Nation something to be excited about. Hey, something has to give, right?(Photo: Brian Bahr/Getty Images)

Denver Broncos - The Denver Broncos are saying they don't have interest in Ray Rice, but we see a way the veteran running back could help them. First off, at 38, Peyton Manning is still clicking on all cylinders, but giving him an extra weapon would only help, not hurt the chances of him prolonging his career. Secondly, with Ronnie Hillman injured, C.J. Anderson and Montee Ball — each 23 — are carrying the load out of the Broncos' backfield. Adding Rice ASAP would give him time to gel in Denver's offense just in time for the playoffs. Maybe reconsider, John Elway?(Photo: Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

Indianapolis Colts - Although a report out of Indianapolis says Ray Rice isn't on the Colts' radar, perhaps they need to take a better look. At 25, Andrew Luck is already an MVP candidate, passing for an NFL-high 4,011 yards with 34 touchdowns. The Colts (8-4) go as he goes and he's had them on his back all year. Adding a quality running back like Rice would take some pressure off Luck. That and let's keep it funky — Trent Richardson is a damn bust at running back and as tough as Ahmad Bradshaw is, he's an old 28 with plenty of wear and tear on him.    (Photo: Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

New England Patriots - Anytime a player is cut by a team, the New England Patriots have to be considered in the running to sign him. That's because longtime Pats head coach Bill Belichick has a long history of signing castaways that teams don't want. Peep this year for example. Two days after the Pittsburgh Steelers cut running back LeGarrette Blount, New England re-signed the rusher. (Photo: Christian Petersen/Getty Images)

Pittsburgh Steelers - The Pittsburgh Steelers releasing LeGarrette Blount a few weeks back only put more of the rushing load on the shoulders of Le'Veon Bell. Why not complement Bell with Ray Rice? Not only would the Steelers bolster their rushing game, giving them arguably the best one-two punch in the NFL, but they would also stick it to AFC North division rival and Rice's former team, the Baltimore Ravens. Sounds like a win-win. (Photo: Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)

Arizona Cardinals - Yes, the Arizona Cardinals are 9-3 and atop the NFC West division, but the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks (8-4) are hot on their heels. Considering the Cards have backup quarterback Drew Stanton as their starter and are finishing the season against the Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, we like the idea of them rolling the dice on Ray Rice to give their stagnant offense a shot in the arm. Scratch that, legs. As solid as the Cardinals are, they're 31st in the league when it comes to team rushing. Rice can help change that. Then again, Arizona had a running back involved in a domestic violence incident — Jonathan Dwyer — and he isn't part of the squad, so maybe it doesn't want any parts of even a reformed Rice. (Photo: Scott Cunningham/Getty Images)

Jacksonville Jaguars - Why are the Jacksonville Jaguars a possible landing destination for Ray Rice? Well, because at 2-10, the Jaguars' options should be kept open to anything. Maybe Rice has enough juice left to get these Jags' fans to remove these brown paper bags and show their faces to the world. It couldn't hurt. (Photo: Sam Greenwood/Getty Images)
