NAACP calls for federal probe into North Charleston police.

Who Is Michael T. Slager? - Former officer Michael T. Slager was fired from the North Charleston police force after he was charged with murder. Slager, 33, had also served in the U.S. Coast Guard before joining the force. His pregnant wife will receive health insurance until the baby is born. Slager was a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers’ Association. The group said it will not be providing Slager with legal representation in the case. Video Taken by Bystander Is Released to Public - A video taken by an onlooker shows the victim running away from the cop, who pulled out his gun and fired bullets at Scott until he fell to the ground. "Put your hands behind your back," Slager commanded to an unresponsive Scott.   A second officer arrives on the scene and has gloves on and begins searching Scott's body but does not appear to be doing CPR on Scott. Officer Reports Conflicts With Video - Officer Michael Slager originally told police that Scott took his Taser after he tried to use it to subdue Scott. Slager said he fired his weapon after they were in a scuffle. Slager's attorney said in a statement that Slager "followed all the proper procedures and policies of the North Charleston Police Department," according to ABC News.
