It’s the Economy - When it comes to handling the economy, 50 percent of Americans say they have a great deal or a fair amount of confidence in President Obama to do or recommend the right thing, compared to 42 percent who have the same belief about GOP presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney, a Gallup poll published on April 20 finds. First Ladies Rock! - When it comes to favorability ratings, Michelle Obama and Ann Romney fare better than their husbands, according to an ABC News/Washington Post poll published April 25. Obama’s 69 percent favorability rating is 13 points higher than the president’s. Romney’s 40 percent rating is five points higher than her husband’s and 17 points lower than the former Massachusetts governor’s unfavorable rating. U.S. Homeownership Drops - In addition to Americans feeling less comfortable in their finances, in a Gallup poll, released on April 26, fewer Americans said they owned their home (62 percent), the lowest since 2001.
